With only one day to go till the first of our members fly off, the whole team is buzzing with excitement!
Here’s a quick pre-trip summary of where we’ll be and what we will be doing.
Most of us will be arriving in Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal) on Monday. From here we have planned an adventure-packed week of travelling across the country.
We will spend the first day settling in and allowing our bodies to adjust to the 5 hour 45 minute time difference. Despite all our members arriving at different times throughout the day, we will each have the chance to shop around in this beautiful culturally rich capital.
Weather permitting, we will have the chance to experience a safari tour from the back of an elephant! Hopefully we will be able to spot some of the monkeys, leopards, rhinos, sloth bears and maybe even a Bengal Tiger!
Due to the current weather conditions and risk of landslides, we may not be able to trek as planned in Pokhara. However, if possible we will organise a paragliding trip in this area.
Starting from the 1st of August we will official begin our month of volunteering at Maya Universe Academy.
We will mainly be focused on construction works at the school. However, we also have some other exciting tasks given to us.
Firstly, Sarah and Qistina will be helping the locals with agriculture. Also, Sarah and Woojin will be taking some Science/Medicine lessons at the school. Sanghoon and I have also been asked to teach the Korean language as an extra curricular activity. We don’t really have much experience in this but we’ll let you know how that goes!
We will keep you posted on our travels throughout our trip so keep an eye out for our next blog update (which will hopefully be much more exciting than this one).
In the meantime, here is a link to the school we are working with: http://www.mayauniverseacademy.org/
Wishing safe travels to all our team members!
